Sending secure emails, documents or files (For Microsoft Outlook)

Kinar Outlook Add-in allows you to send secure emails and documents in securely from within Microsoft Outlook. Kinar Add-in adds "New Secure" button to Outlook window to send secure emails and documents.

Follow the steps described below.

Step 1 - New secure message window
Click on New Secure button to bring up a new message window. Notice that the new message window is enhanced by Kinar add-in with security features.

Step 2 - Enter secure message
Type in the message as you normally would in Outlook.

Step 3 - Enter unsecure cover message
The purpose of the cover message is to let the recipient know about the fact that you are sending this securely and your reason for it. This message is optional and you can leave it blank. However, it is useful to the recipient, especially if he is receiving a secure message for the first time.

Step 4 - Attach secure documents
Attach documents to the message using drag and drop to "Attach" area or by clicking on the "Attach" button.

Step 5 - Define a set of authorized recipients
Select recipients for the message as you would for a regular non-secure message using the address-book or by typing in the email addresses. Kinar will support cc and bcc in the upcoming versions.

Step 6 - Send
By following steps 1, 2 and 3, you have created a secure Outlook message. You can send this message securely by clicking on the Send button.

Sending secure emails, documents or files (For all other email applications)

Use this method if you do not use MS Outlook for email. This method works with any email application (Outlook express, Outlook, Lotus Notes, Eudora, AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail).

Step 1 - Default Email Application
Make sure that the email application is set as the default email application. (You can set this by choosing Internet Options menu in Internet Explorer, clicking on Programs tab and using Email pop-up menu.)

Step 2 - Kinar KeepSafe Email Personal
Launch this application using Programs->Kinar KeepSafe->Email Personal menu. This will bring up a new secure message window.

Step 3 - Enter secure message
Type in the message as you normally would in an email application.

Step 4 - Enter unsecure cover message

Extracting encrypted emails, documents or files

When you receive a Kinar message with an encrypted message (or file), the secure information is wrapped in attachments with .kne extension.

Just double-click on the attachment (from within the message or after saving it in a folder). Kinar decryptor will be launched and if the attachment is encrypted, it will decrypt and unwrap the attachment in a folder specified by you or let you view a document from the message itself.

Viewing tamper-proof emails, documents or files

When you receive a Kinar message with a tamper-proof message (or file), the secure information is wrapped in attachments with .knp extension.

Just double-click on the attachment (from within the message or after saving it in a folder). Kinar viewer will be launched and if the attachment is in tamper-proof form, it will decrypt and display the attachment. Note that the viewer will not allow you to copy information from a tamper-proof file nor will it allow you to print it.
